Pre-Game: Dallas FC

by Brendan Wyatt

The Rapids have three games left in the season, with two of them at home against rivals.  Tonight the burgundy boys play host to Dallas FC.  Yes, again, we did just play them.  While it may not have gone so well a couple weeks ago, the venue and lineup will be different tonight.

The burgundy boys have been able to play spoiler in the last two games and what a better way to wind down the season than to prolong or crush the odds of your rivals making the playoffs.  Dallas FC is a rival; there are players and coaches who see it that way so we should expect our boys to seek revenge.

Has anyone else noticed that Aigner has produced in his starts and appearances?  He hasn’t many minutes; but he has been a part of some key goals in this final stretch and what a glorious thing it would be if he kept the streak of having his name on the scoring sheet.

As for injuries, Michael Azira who is listed as day to day may still be a few more days away.  Gashi may be ready and we all know how giddy we can get at the thought of Aigner, Gashi, and Badji on the pitch at once.  Congrats to Dom Badji for the new two year deal, will that be the push he needs to bag his tenth goal of the season?

I should also remind you that Jared Watts is suspended for this game and the disciplinary committee decided that wasn’t enough and gave him one more.  Basically we’ve seen the last of Wattsy at the Dick this year. Also, Mekeil Williams and Tim Howard are with their national teams so they won’t be available for tonight.

Despite not losing their last two games, Dallas is 1-6-5 over the last twelve games and has a lot to play for. Dallas is tied with San Jose and Salt Lake with 42 points.  So as Dallas sits in a three-way tie for sixth place the Rapids have a chance tonight to once again hinder hopes of a playoff run for the bad guys.

The Rapids have been the redheaded stepchild of MLS for many years, why not embrace it a little and see if our boys can play the part.  Send some guys home wondering how the rest of their season will go, meanwhile we all go home with three points and a smile.

Tailgate starts at 4pm, stay tuned to the Voice of C38 twitter to see if we will have a guest today.

Predicted starting XI: MacMath, Miller, Sjoberg, Ford, Hairston.  Boateng, Saied, Aigner, Serna, Gatt, Badji.
